What is wrong
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling certain 2022-2026 Sienna Hybrid 7-passenger vehicles. The second-row seat backs may fail to remain secured in the event of a crash.
Why it matters
A seat back that is not secured may fail to properly protect an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
The fix
Dealers will update the supplemental restraint system electronic control unit software. For vehicles equipped with the "Mobility as a Service" package, dealers will replace the two second-row seat backs. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 7, 2026. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TB24 and 26TA24.
Recall repairs are free at the brand's dealers, no matter who owns the car now.
What to do now
- Enter your 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls – it shows whether this recall is open on your exact car. Your VIN is on the driver-side dashboard (look through the windshield) and on your registration.
- If it is open, call a Toyota dealer to book the free repair. Ask how long parts will take if the remedy is not ready yet.
- A mobile mechanic cannot do recall work – only the brand's dealers can. A mobile mechanic can still check other problems on the car where it is parked.
