What is wrong
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2026 Dodge Durango vehicles. The terminals in the tail light wiring harness may be damaged and cause the tail lights to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Why it matters
Tail lights that fail to illuminate properly reduce the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Dealers will inspect and replace the tail light assemblies, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 3, 2026. Chrysler's number for this recall is A2D. Vehicle Identification Numbers involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning October 29, 2026.
Recall repairs are free at the brand's dealers, no matter who owns the car now.
What to do now
- Enter your 17-character VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls – it shows whether this recall is open on your exact car. Your VIN is on the driver-side dashboard (look through the windshield) and on your registration.
- If it is open, call a Dodge dealer to book the free repair. Ask how long parts will take if the remedy is not ready yet.
- A mobile mechanic cannot do recall work – only the brand's dealers can. A mobile mechanic can still check other problems on the car where it is parked.
