How We List Mobile Mechanics
What it takes to be listed, what we leave out, and how corrections work.
What gets listed
A business is listed on a city page only when its own website or public business profile shows three things: it comes to the customer (driveway, workplace or roadside), it serves that city by name or has a base there, and it is a real operator – a named owner or technician, a street address or base town, a state registration number, a stated company name, or a distinct brand with real about-us content.
What we leave out
- National dispatch apps and their pages.
- Lead-generation and referral sites – for example keyword-only “City Mobile Mechanic” sites with no named person, address or licence, or sites that say they “connect you with independent contractors”.
- Towing-only, roadside-only, tire-only, glass-only and detailing-only businesses.
- Anything we cannot confirm. Blank beats wrong.
What we record, and what we don’t
We record the business name, the areas it says it covers, what it says it fixes, whether it works only from a van or also has a shop, and the page we checked. We do not publish phone numbers, ratings, reviews, prices or superlatives, and we do not rank businesses.
A to Z, not a ranking
Lists are alphabetical. Nobody pays to be listed or to move up. One slot per city page – the City Exclusive – is paid, sits outside the list and is always labelled ADVERTISEMENT. Paying never adds a page and never changes the order.
Which pages a mechanic appears on
Every listing has a base town – the town on its own website or profile. A mechanic appears on a city or town page only when its own site names that place and its base is within about 35 miles of it, on up to six pages in all. Other towns it names are shown on its card. When a checked mechanic is based in a town we do not have yet, we add a page for that town.
When a page goes live
A city or town page is published as soon as it lists one checked mechanic. Pages still being researched stay up for anyone who needs them, and you can always send a request there.
Our decision
Whether a business is listed, and on which pages, is our decision alone, made under these rules.
How checks are done
Listings are researched on the business's own pages, and a second, separate check tries to disprove each one – re-reading the source and looking for signs of a lead-generation network. The month of the last check is shown on every city page.
Licences
Some states require auto repair businesses to register. Where a state keeps a public lookup, the state page links it. We do not verify every licence ourselves, so check the official lookup before you book.
Corrections and removals
Anything wrong? Business owners and drivers can ask for a correction or removal, free, through the listing form or by email to [email protected]. We fix confirmed errors as soon as we can.
