Symptoms owners describe
Complaints are reports owners file with NHTSA, the federal vehicle-safety agency. NHTSA does not verify each one, and a year or model that sold more cars usually gets more complaints, so treat the counts as a map of what to check, not a reliability score. Data pulled from NHTSA's public complaint and recall databases in September 2026.
Complaints by model year
The 2022 EV6 drew the most complaints (277). Newer years have had less time on the road, so their counts are still growing.

What EV6 owners told NHTSA
“When it fails, the 12v battery rapidly drains and the car goes into turtle mode (25mph max) until the 12 battery drains completely.”
“A new evse was ordered and arrived by that night, however the car would not accept a charge, and displayed a "charging failure" message, despite the new evse working on two other electric vehicles.”
“Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at slow speeds, the messages "check ABS", "check esc", "check electronic parking brake" and "pull over safely" were displayed, and alarms sounded on several occasions.”
“During this time they removed the entire battery from the car, dropped the suspension, experienced the car not being able to go into gear (reverse or drive), not hold a charge etc.”
What a mobile mechanic can do on an EV6
An electric EV6 has no oil, spark plugs or exhaust, but it still has a 12-volt battery, brakes, tires, suspension, wipers and cabin filters – and a mobile mechanic can handle most of that where the car is parked.
The high-voltage battery, drive unit, charging hardware, software and driver-assist calibration go to the brand's service center. Recall repairs are free there. Electric cars: what a mobile mechanic can and can't do

Prices vary by vehicle and city; the mechanic quotes after looking. How we got these numbers
